So I fell off the wagon yesterday a little bit. Tomorrow is always another day though, to get back on the wagon.
This morning we made gluten free cinnamon biscuits. They turned out a lot like cinnamon scones. Sort of dry but a decent small snack. I like that Bob's Red Mill gluten free all purpose flour is based on bean flour. It has three times more fiber and calcium than white wheat flour and some healthy fat. I boosted it with some gluten free oat bran to add fiber.
Yesterday I made Sue Gregg's soaked 100% whole grain pancakes using some gluten free oat groats, home ground and soaked in kefir overnight. I love that recipe! I ate some and actually felt good afterwards!
Last week we started using a Sili Squeeze. It's like one of those Happy Tot or applesauce pouches you can buy at the store only reusable! It's basically a squeezeable sippy cup and it is sort of hard to use. They are coming out with a valve that is free flowing soon which I would be interested in trying. I've been experimenting with different GAPS approved meat stock/bone broths and milk kefir smoothies in it for baby Ro. He certainly enjoys some of the creations but isn't terribly thrilled about the broths. Today he had milk kefir, a bit of banana, strawberry, flax and chia seeds.
I keep thinking maybe this kid will put some weight on if I can just get some more food or fats into him. He's a spindly little fella. So much different from my other linebacker children.
I've been trying to get down the kefirs, kombucha and fermented veggies. I've got some amazing homemade fermented kimchi in the fridge that was like heaven. More probiotic stuff would help my sugar cravings. Coffee was out for a whole two days but I guess I'm not ready to give it up just yet. Been saying that for 20 years.
I've got a new blog look. New year, new look. I loved this sunset/wildlife pic I took the other day while hiking. And this profile pic from a few months ago. Love my big fat dreadlocks! They're getting long. I can't wait till their down to my butt! Earth Mama MoonStar all the way!
