Boris left us Monday night just before midnight.
About ten years ago we decided to get a cat companion for our current cat. We visted the Humane Society. When we walked into the room for older cats we saw the biggest fattest grey tabby tom cat and knew right away he was the one we wanted. He was sweet and we took him home.
Boris loved to walk along the back of the couch and head butt you with his big furry head. Especially when it was meal time. He was always sweet and loved when people came over. He was always sweet with the three kids. Even when they were rough.
A couple years ago Boris lost weight and nothing I did ever got him to put any weight back on.
Monday morning when he wasn't in his bed I found him curled up breathing softly and I knew he didn't have long left. We stayed with him all day. C cried a lot and we spent time working through his first encounter with grief since becoming an age where he his fully aware of death.
After the kids went to bed we spent a few hours with him and finally he died with my hand on his heart.
The kids buried him today. His little face looked very sweet. Just like we will always remember him.
Christmas Boris
